The National Wilderness Stewardship Alliance is the only national organization dedicated to connecting wilderness stewardship groups and developing new volunteer groups to provide "boots on the ground" volunteers for all 757 federally designated Wilderness Areas in the United States.  In the last 18 months, NWSA has gone from the concept of a national organization to incorporation as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit with a dedicated board of directors, a growing numnber of active volunteers, and an initial successful record of assisting groups and agencies.

We have a challenging goal to help protect our Wilderness Areas for future generations, but together we can do it!   Click join now to see the membership levels and please JOIN NOW.

Whether you belong to a stewardship organization, are an individual volunteer in search of a group, a serious hiker/backpacker or an armchair adventurer who simply loves the concept of "wild places" for future generations -- you have come to the right place.  Your tax deductible donation to NWSA will help grow the national network of volunteer stewardship groups dedicated to preserving the nearly 110 million acres of land in the wilderness system.  In many areas, a single ranger or employee is responsible for tens of thousands of acres of wilderness.  Volunteers are the only reasonable solution to supply the needed "boots on the ground" stewardship.

Recognizing the huge potential of a network of volunteer stewards, the Curtis & Edith Munson Foundation awarded a capacity building matching grant to ensure MWSA's initial funding.  Therefore each dollar you donate now will be matched until the grant amount is met.   Your contribution will make a real difference and allow NWSA to grow a nationwide network of wilderness stewards.

Each new member wil receive a colorful Wilderness Supporter Decal while members donating $250 or more will be eligible for a special member's fee for the NWSA Annual Wilderness Conference, scheduled for fall 2012.
