The Summer 2016 WSP Grants are essentially complete, and the Final Interim Report is worth a read to hear how these sixteen wilderness stewardship groups rose to the challenge of helping the Forest Service meet its Wilderness Stewardship Performance scoring responsibilities. Work activities ranged from campsite inventory, to invasive species eradication, to wilderness education. Some 25 seasonal positions were supported by the grants. In addition over 6500 volunteer hours were logged at a value over $150,000. The Report provides a snapshot of the work completed by each organization. Many thanks to the Forest Service for providing these matching funds, and many wonderful thanks to the stewardship groups for their contribution to wilderness stewardship.
