First up in implementing the National Forest System Trails Stewardship Act is identification of Priority Trail Areas.  We expect to hear more on the establishment of Priority Areas in early June.  These Priority Areas are intended to be areas of initial activity that will act as demonstration laboratories for implementation of best practices for engaging volunteers and getting needed work done on National Forest System Trails.  Talk with your local District Rangers, Forest Supervisors and Regional Foresters to express your interest in identifying Priority Areas for your area.
